Power outages, reports of leaks at JSC, but no flooding there. Almost all power is out in Houston. :/

I moved electronics away from the windows, brought in Greg's carnivorous plants and we're watching from the safety of Austin.

24.2 (KVUE TWO) has a live feed of the KHOU 11 news continuously going if you're in the Austin area with a digital TV.

I've been looking at chron.com and click2houston to see what's going on. Most people we know have left, a few have stuck it out.

52 mph wind gusts at Minute Maid right now.

Positive thoughts.

The collective lobotomy has taken hold and folks are doing dumb shit on I-10. If you're going 60, move over damnit!

77058, 77059 evacuations begin at noon.

Essentially, if you're next to the bay, get out.

There's something rare happening tonight over the central US:  A chance to see three spacecraft flying in close formation:  

First, the ISS - my pride and joy.  

Trailing it is the Shuttle that just undocked (30 seconds later)

AND the first European pressurized vehicle - the Automated Transfer Vehicle.  It's a major accomplishment for ESA, and they'll be docking it to ISS soon.

Christmas Eve: "Santa" comes into the room, wondering , hoping that someone has Harvest Moon. The DS for my nephew is charged andwaiting for the cartridge... but the box is empty. Someone opened it, took out the game and re-shrink-wrapped it to return to Best Buy. Misery. So Greggie the kind elf swaps a DS game we got my nephew for the promise to get Harvest Moon when the stores open and Christmas morning is saved.

we'll be done by christmas.  whew.

we spent thanksgiving at the happiest place on earth (TM). 

it was fun.  kids were crazy, we rode coasters, got wet, stayed up too late and ate mc donalds. 

I gave some of the wee ones piggy back rides. 

now, the check. 

the day before we left LA... we were reallllly tired.

congested.  exhausted.  'fuzzy.'

everyone got colds. 

when in doubt, use afrin when getting on a plane.  it took 2 days for my ears to clear.  they're still popping.
